Five checks before every crypto swap

A short routine for choosing the right coin, network, address, amount, and rate.

A CLEARER CRYPTO EXPERIENCESimple ideas for better decisions.

Start with the destination

An exchange begins with two assets, but the receiving wallet deserves the first check. Open the wallet where you expect to receive funds and select its exact asset and blockchain network. A token with the same ticker can exist on several independent networks.

The exchange’s receiving network must match the network supported by that wallet. If either side is unclear, pause before creating an order.

Review the small details

Copy the recipient address directly from the wallet. Compare the beginning and end after pasting it. If the wallet shows a memo or destination tag, include it with the address. A valid address format alone does not prove that the destination is yours.

  • Check the amount against the minimum shown in the quote.
  • Choose a fixed or floating rate deliberately.
  • Review any network fee and deposit time window.

Keep a useful record

Save the exchange ID and the expected sending and receiving amounts. A transaction hash identifies a blockchain transfer; an exchange ID identifies the swap order. They are different records and both can help explain what happened.

In this local app, the demo exchange walks through the same sequence without accepting funds. Use it to learn where each piece of information appears.

TAKE IT WITH YOU

Key takeaways

  • Match the asset and blockchain network.
  • Copy the recipient address from your own wallet.
